Ravi Teja's Baladoor, Film Reviews

Baladoor, Ravi Teja's latest blockbuster, is all ready to hit the screens on August 14th as an 'Independence Day gift' to audiences. Director Uday Shankar had earlier given the hit Kalisundam... Raa under Suresh Productions banner.

By Agreeing that even though the trends are changing in what audiences are looking for in films, having a traditional system still imbibed into the culture gives a room to sentimental movies. That would work as long as there is novelty in how it is presented. Udayshankar earlier delivered a hit for Suresh Productions with Kalisundam raa. Now the director is back on the same production banner with Baladoor. Even though the story suits the body language of Raviteja very well, narration suffers. Lag, predictable narration and patched up sequences pull down interest.

The tagline (Veediki Badhyatalekkuva) gives us an idea of what the movie is about. In a nutshell, it is the saga of two prominent families of a village. Chanti (Raviteja) is the son of Purushotham (Chandramohan). However,he is more attached to and supported by his uncle Ramakrishna (Krishna). Raviteja is a good hearted by reckless guy. A few incidents lead to Purushotham kicking his son out.

Several things follow in Chanti's home that leads to the death of Chanti's father, his uncle losing status etc. How Chanti becomes responsible and solves the issues forms the story. How he sets things right forms the underlying plot. Of course, what would a Telugu movie be without a love element? So, also woven into the story for some romance and glamour, we have a love element. The family feuds also provide an air of drama and tension to the proceedings.

Raviteja is impressive in his role. Anushka is pretty much limited to her song numbers,Superstar Krishna enacts a very prominent role as Ravi Teja's paternal uncle. His presence in the movie is sure to attract family audiences and the older generation, which grew up on Krishna's classic blockbusters.

Overall, Baladoor could have been a better film if narration is not old styled.

Ravi Teja is slowly but steadily carving a good name for himself in the industry with blockbusters like Dubai Seenu and Krishna opposite Trisha. He also has the ability to give very intense performances in the Comedy Section. The film's title suits Ravi Teja's physique and demeanour.

Anushka has been teamed up with Ravi Teja for the second time after his recent success, Vikramarkudu. She sparkles in the role of a village girl who comes to the city to pursue a career in medicine. Anushka has trimmed down a lot and looks very charmingly sexy in the movie.

K.M. Radhakrishnan, who gave melodious music to Anand, Godavari and Chandamama, has scored tunes for the movie. This is the first time that a Telugu film was shot in Uzbekistan. So the surreal landscapes are a true treat to the eyes.

Prince Mahesh Babu's next Venture Varudu is on the Way

Mahesh Babu the Prince of the Tollywood Film Industry is Ready for yet another Block Buster movie Varudu, It has been so long waiting since his last blockbuster movies pokari, athidi. This Film is Directed by none other then the successful Directory Trivikram.

After delivering back to back super hits, Trivikram is gearing up for his next film with Mahesh Babu. The film is tentatively being referred to as Varudu. Trivikram Srinivas is very busy with providing final touch ups for the film. One item still pending is the confirmation of the heroine.

Even though several heroines were considered, the cue now points to either Priyanka chopra or Tamanna. A few sources say taht Tamanna is pretty much confirmed. But there is no strong note on this yet.

It could go either ways. Second heroine is confirmed to be Parvati Melton. Parvati Melton also played second heroine in Jalsa. Regular shooting of the film will start towards the end of August. A song and few scenes along with a major action episode will be pictured in this schedule that will be shot in Rajasthan.

An Average Rating for Vishal's New Film "Salute"

Vishal, Nayana Tara starring Salute, directed by Rajasekhar and produced by Vikram Krishna, does not stand up to the expectations.

Satyam (Vishal) is a sincere police office who goes by the book. Law is above all for him. He handles a case of three murders of political leaders. He is astonished to know that the murderer is none other than his role model ex-cop Pratap Rudra (Upendra). Pratap Rudra challenges that he is doing the role of cops while Cops are sticking to the books. Satyam experiences a bad taste after arresting the goons and they walk out free.

The trailors and promo assure a good movie but the film turns out to be filled with illogical sequences, unnecessary songs and half a dozen fights. Most disappointing factor in the film is how there is no link between scenes. This is the first film for debut director Rajasekhar. Even though story is old, the point brought in is good. However, screenplay is not tight. To fill up the gap, several unnecessary and unrelated scenes are added, Music and background done by Harris Jayraj are content. The Dialog's translations are typical done bye Shashank Vennelakanti's . Editing by Anthony could have been better. Actions scenes composed by Stunt Siva are good.

Vishal is perfect in his role. His physique gave him all the more macho look. His body language, styles etc aptly suited his role. Nayana Tara is pretty much restricted to songs. Even though she had plenty of scenes, none of them really contribute. Mayuri Sudha played mother to Vishal. She did not have much scope either. Ravi Kale is good in the negative role. Ali, Brahmanandam, jeeva, Thanikella Bharani, Hema and others are content in their roles. But the highlight is Upendra, who did a good job as ex-cop. the scenes between Upendra and vishal came out very well.

The Film songs pop at the wrong time. First half of the film tests the patience. Second half turns decent after the entry of Upendra. When the film falls into a serious track, hero remembers heroine and pops a song. The songs are not that great to watch either. Overall, Salute might be a big film so far for Vishal but might not impress the audience. Vishal, Nayana Tara glamor, fights and second half are good.
