Bollywood actress AMRITA RAO, who struck gold with her girl-next-door look in Vivah, is back after a year-long gap with My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves. She says that she doesn't take any chances while selecting projects.
Amrita Rao is an Indian model and actress born on 17 June 1981. She was born in Chitrapur in a Saraswat Brahmin family. She can speak Hindi, English, Marathi and Konkani. Her zodiac sign is Gemini.
She stepped into modeling by chance while giving an audition for an advertisement. She was selected for that advertising movie. Since then, she got numerous offers for several products. Her debut film was released in 2002. She is unmarried. She speaks Hindi and English.
"I have always been very careful about picking up projects because there is no second chance in Bollywood. If you go wrong with a movie you have to pay a very heavy price.
"I must say I am very selective. But I wouldn't deny being fortunate as good projects came my way. Otherwise, I would have just dreamt about doing something different," she said on her recent visit to the national capital.
The actress, who is essaying the role of an assistant director in My Name..., started her stint in the film industry with Ab Ke Baras. She earned rave reviews for her performance in films like Masti and Main Hoon Na. Commenting about her Telugu film industry experience, Amrita said: "It was wonderful to do well there, as it is a male-dominated industry.
"It was a different and interesting experience. For instance, it was challenging to emote the right way on dialogues whose meaning I didn't fully understand." Amrita is upbeat about her forthcoming projects, which include Victoria, Shortcut and national award winning director Shyam Benegal's Mahadev.
The versatile star said she would love to do art house movies and finds it an opportunity of a lifetime to work with Benegal. "I would love to do arty roles. However, Benegal doesn't only make art films... Zubeidaa was a commercial film. It is just that his films have a strong story line and less songs and dances."
"I always wanted to work with him. Nothing could have been better than this opportunity." Reluctant to divulge any details, Amrita said: "Mahadev is a character-driven film where the character I play speaks with a particular north Indian accent."

Gopichand UpComing Movie "ONTARI"
GOPICHAND's new movie " ONTARI " is going to release in February. They are planing to shoot the songs in foreign countries. This film is Gopichand's new film after Lakshyam.
"For Gopichand, this is the third film under our banner after Yagnam and Ranam. It is well aware that Lakshyam is the biggest hit in Gopichand's career. We are planning to reach similar target with this movie. We are planning to launch the audio in another 10 days and the film in the first week of February." he added.
Very few actors have this kind of a transformation. Starting their career as a lead man and then taking up villain roles with aplomb and returning as a successful screen hero - all in a span of just five films.
Gopichand is a case in point. Four years ago, the debutant made his entry with a boy-meets-girl story (Tolivalapu) but changed track and sprang a surprise with his spine chilling performance in a negative role, in Jayam, a super hit.
The shooting of Ontari is almost complete except the canning of two songs. The film is directed by BV Ramana and produced by Pokuri Babu Rao under the banner of Ee Taram Films. Gopichand and Bhavana are in the lead.
Gopichand said that he is very confidant about the film. This film completed all talkie part. Only two songs are left to shoot. Music was composed by Manisharma.Gopichand told that he will definitely act up to the expectations.
Producer said, "For the first time, our film unit is going abroad for canning of songs and this is the first-ever heavy budget film also. The basic storyline is how the hero faces the villains, who try to make him alone by separating him from his family members. We have completed the shooting of the talkie part including the patchwork. We are planning to shoot the songs at Seychelles in New Zealand from January 13 to 21."
